Just as David spoke to the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their relatives the singers, with instruments of music, harps, lyres, loud-sounding cymbals, to raise sounds of joy (1 Chron. 15:16), we as believers in Messiah Jesus are called to do the same.
We believe that Jesus is manifested in and through His church as its members assemble and worship. Because our content is crucial for true worship (intimacy with God) to occur, we must at all times purpose to be Biblical in regard to the text and music that we use. Then, as we minister to the Lord in worship, we will realize His renewing life in us.
The Scriptures also mention dance as an expression of praise (Exodus 15:20, Psalm 149:3, Psalm 150:4, Jer. 31:13) and Hebraic dance still occupies a prominent place in Israeli and Jewish life. In our identification with Israel as a congregation, we have discovered the joyous element dance can add to exuberant praise, and offer opportunity for anyone interested in this type of expression early in our services.
Our singers rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 PM to prepare musical offerings for our worship services and for special events and seasonal concerts. Our instrumentalists gather to rehearse on an “as needed” basis. As a congregation, we meet periodically to learn new songs to expand our musical expression of praise and worship. Our dancers rehearse occasionally for special events.
