WEDNESDAY, OCT 2 AT 7:00 PM
This year, the first of the 7th month begins at sunset on Wednesday, October 2nd through Thursday, October 3. In the Bible it is called “The Day of Shofar Sounding”; “The Day of Blowing” (Yom T’ruah) or the “Feast of Trumpets.” It is a reminder “to be ready”, “to be on the alert” because the Kingdom of God is coming.
In Leviticus 23:24, the Bible says that the Feast of Trumpets is a “commemoration of the trumpet blasts.” The Hebrew phrase used is zikron teruah. Zikron means a memorial and T’ruah is a specific trumpet blast used mostly during a time of war. It means a memorial of the trumpet blasts. This begins the special 7th Month Festivals leading to Yom Kippur ten days later beginning at sundown, Friday, October 11, 2024 and Sukkot beginning on October 16, 2024 at sundown. Yom T’ruah signifies the gathering together of the Church to Messiah – not to heaven but to Jerusalem at the coming of the Lord for the coronation of THE KING.
We have special presentations prepared by the youth and others from the congregation. If you have a shofar (ram’s horn), feel free to bring it along as we will sound the shofars (shōˈfrōt) together on this evening. Come celebrate with us!
“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, all the tribes of the Land will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with tremendous power and glory. He will send out his angels with a great shofar; and they will gather together his chosen people from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew 24:30-31
