(SUNDOWN) THURSDAY, MARCH 13 -15, 2025*
Purim is a time when we commemorate the decision of an assimilated monarch to stand—and, if need be, suffer and die—with her people. Even as Moses threw off the cloak of assimilation in Egypt to stand with the people of Israel, and Esther threw off a similar cloak when she brought the fast of the people into the palace, so should we throw off whatever mantles of assimilation we have acquired, embrace God and His Torah, and support the people of Israel economically, politically and spiritually. Let our prayer this year be that all believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, would cast off the lust for possessions, power and prestige, to stand for—and with—The Holy One of Israel and His purposes, regardless of the cost, that His kingdom might be established in the earth. Chag Purim Sameach! – Happy Purim everyone!
*Shushan Purim will be celebrated this year also on Sunday, March 16 in Jerusalem because the date (15th of Adar) falls on the Shabbat and observance of Shabbat is a most important holy day.
