One of the most significant dates in modern history is Jerusalem Day. It is a national holiday in Israel celebrating the reunification of Jerusalem (28th day of Iyar on the Hebrew calendar). It is the anniversary of the date in 1967 when Israeli forces liberated Jerusalem and the Temple Mount from Muslim control and made it part of the sovereign Jewish state.
